Hadith of the day

Hadith

Hadiths are teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and narrated through the Companions and successors of the Companions. Hadiths are an indispensable and unrivalled source of understanding of the Quran and act as a guidepost in matters of Islamic jurisprudence. Combined with the teachings of the Quran, Hadiths complete our syllabus in practicing Islam. Hadith of the Day presents to you carefully selected Hadiths on issues and matters that are paramount to an Islamic way of life, as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had intended for these pearls of wisdom to guide us. Insha'Allah you will find them just as inspiring and enlightening as they have been for me in strengthening my faith and guiding me, drawing me closer to Allah in every step.

Parents

Narrated Abu Umamah: A man said, “Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) what rights can parents demand from their children?” He replied, “They are your Paradise and your Hell.”

Narrated Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) when Allah’s Apostle was ordered to give option to his wives, he started with me, saying, “I am going to mention to you something, but you shall not hasten (to give your reply) unless you consult your parents.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) knew that my parents would not order me to leave him. Then he said, “Allah says: ‘O Prophet (Muhammad)! Say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its glitter…a great reward.” (33.28-29) I said, “Then why I consult my parents? Verily, I seek Allah, His Apostle and the Home of the Hereafter.” Then all the other wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) did the same as I did.
Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 60 Hadith 309

Narrated Asma bint Abu Bakr: My mother came to me during the lifetime of Allah’s Apostle and she was a pagan. Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 73 Hadith 1

Knowledge

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas’ud: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said to me: Acquire the knowledge and impart it to the people. Acquire the knowledge of Fara’id (laws of inheritance) and teach it to the people, learn the Qur’an and teach it to the people; for I am a person who has to depart this world and the knowledge will be taken away and turmoil will appear to such an extent that two people will not agree in regard to a case of inheritance distribution and find none who would decide between them.

Narrated Abu Juhaifa: I asked Ali, “Do you have the knowledge of any Divine Inspiration besides what is in Allah’s Book?” Ali replied, “No, by Him Who splits the grain of corn and creates the soul.
